OG Preview by Proovd (“we”) is a free tool to preview how links look when shared. This page explains what data we use and your rights. We don’t sell your data.

What we collect and why

Analytics (only if you consent) — If you click “Accept” on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics. It collects things like approximate location, device type, and how you use the site (e.g. pages visited). We use this to improve the product. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply: Google Privacy Policy. We do not load analytics until you accept.

URL history (in your browser only) — When you check a URL, we store that URL and the page title in your browser’s local storage so you can see recent checks. This data stays on your device. We don’t send it to our servers. You can clear it anytime via “History” and “Clear history.”

URL you paste for preview — When you click “Preview,” we send the URL you entered to our server so we can fetch the page and show the Open Graph preview. We do not store these URLs on our servers. The request is processed and then discarded.

Cookies and local storage

We use:

Consent choice — Stored in local storage so we know whether to load analytics. Key: og-preview-consent.
URL history — Stored in local storage for the History feature. Key: og-simulator-history.
Google Analytics cookies — Only set if you accepted analytics. They are non-essential.

Legal basis (EU/UK)

For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK:

Analytics — We rely on your consent (you click “Accept”).
URL history and preview processing — We rely on legitimate interest (providing the tool and a basic history feature). The data is minimal and not used for profiling.

Retention

We don’t keep the URLs you check on our servers. Analytics data is held according to Google’s policies. Local storage (consent + history) stays until you clear it or clear site data in your browser.

Your rights

You can:

Withdraw consent — Clear the og-preview-consent key in local storage (or clear site data). We’ll show the cookie banner again; choose “Necessary only” to avoid analytics.
Clear URL history — Use “Clear history” in the app.
Access / erasure / portability — We don’t hold personal data on our servers beyond what’s in your browser. For analytics, you can use Google’s tools or ask us and we’ll help where we can.
