OG Preview by Proovd (“we”) is a free tool to preview how links look when shared. You paste a URL, we fetch the page, and we show how it would look. There is no account, no login, and no checkout. We don’t sell your data. This page explains what we actually keep.

What we collect and why

URL you paste for preview — When you click “Preview,” we send the URL you entered to our server so we can fetch the page and show the Open Graph preview. We store that URL after Preview. It is not thrown away when the preview finishes. We keep it so the preview tool can keep working. We do not use those URLs to build a profile of you.

Monitoring waitlist email — If you join the waitlist for upcoming metadata monitoring, we store the email address you submit so we can notify you when the feature launches. We use it only for that. You can ask us to remove it anytime at [email protected].

URL history (in your browser only) — After a successful check, the homepage History list can remember the URL (and a title) in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device. We don’t send the History list to our servers. You can clear it anytime via “History” and “Clear history,” or by wiping this site’s data in the browser.

Mail you send us — If you write to the address on this page, we receive whatever is in the message — typically your email and, if you are asking for a deletion, the URL or waitlist address involved.

Google tags on some pages — The homepage and the blog posts include Google Tag Manager. Tool pages and this privacy page do not include that snippet. Tag Manager can load other Google tags (including Analytics) depending on how the container is configured. Those tools may record page views, approximate location, and device or browser type. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply: Google Privacy Policy. This site does not show a cookie-consent banner, and we do not wait for a click before those tags run on the pages that include them.

Cookies and local storage

We use:

URL history — Stored in local storage for the History feature. Key: og-simulator-history.
Google tags — On the homepage and blog, Google Tag Manager (and any tags it loads) may set cookies. There is no cookie banner on this site. An unused consent helper file in the project is not wired into the live pages.

Pages also load Inter and Plus Jakarta Sans from Google’s font service. Your browser talks to Google to download those files.

Legal basis (EU/UK)

For visitors in the EU/EEA and UK:

Waitlist email — We treat a waitlist signup as you asking us to email you about monitoring.
Stored preview URLs, URL history, and fetching the page you pasted — We rely on legitimate interest (running the checker you used and a basic history feature). The data is minimal and not used for profiling.
Google tags — Those run on the homepage and blog as part of how those pages are built. We do not collect a separate analytics consent click.

Retention

Stored preview URLs stay until you ask us to remove them. Waitlist emails stay until you ask us to remove them, or until we shut the list down after monitoring launches. On-device History stays until you clear it. Data inside Google’s tags follows Google’s own retention settings, which we do not control from this page.

Your rights

You can:

Ask us to delete a stored record — Email [email protected] and say what you want removed: a waitlist address, a stored preview URL, or both. Include the exact email or URL so we can find the row. We will delete the matching record we hold.
Clear URL history — Use “Clear history” in the app. We cannot reach into your browser to wipe it.
Access, correction, export, or objection — Use the same inbox. If a privacy law in your country gives you extra rights, or you want to complain to a regulator, write to us there too.

We do not sell personal information. California’s “do not sell” opt-out does not apply because there is no sale. We do not run user accounts, passwords, or payments. The homepage has dashed boxes that say an ad could go there; they are placeholders, and there is no live ad network script on the page today.

The website you asked us to preview may log a hit from our servers when we fetch it. The company that hosts this site holds the preview URLs and waitlist emails we store, as part of hosting. We would disclose stored records if the law required it, or if we had to protect people from serious harm. If someone else took over the product, those records would likely move with it.

Children

Proovd is not meant for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly keep a child’s email or a URL they pasted. If you think that happened, email us and we will delete it.
